Sylph

This creature came from a random brainwave I had in Lit class.
And, if you want to know, the movie "Skyline." (Cool alien concepts, but really weak plot and characters.)
Anyways, here is a sylph. Its head is roughly the size of an old TV set, and it is almost entirely biomechanical. It makes no noise, it doesn't even step about. It simply glides effortlessly throughout its environment. All it's meant to do is inspect. Creatures like this spread throughout the universe, examining alien worlds for life and, possibly, contact. No one really knows who they are or where they come from, only that they pass by everything in existence. They come without warning, they take nothing, and leave without a trace. Why? What keeps their immeasurable drive?
