Wyvern - Lord of the Skies

In the 13th century, every citizen of the world had one word on their lips, one thing they all feared, and one thing that is found in the mythology of every culture across the globe... the dragon. They were simply described as giant serpents, reptiles with giant wings that soared and breath of fire. One from northern europe, though, was described as the greatest evil in the world, one so large and fearful that it could crush entire villiages in a single attack...
...the Wyvern.
Sometimes regerded as the devil itself, any sight of a dragon was bad luck in Europe. Reports told of them raiding the farmer's livestock, burning the year's harvest, hoarding mountains filled to the brim with gold, and holding hostages in tall, dark castles. Only the bravest warriors in the land faced something as fearsome as a dragon, let alone a wyvern. Most, however, end up as a charred corpse miles away from the nearest dragon's lair, often by the dragon itself. Lucky ones- such as Beowulf and St. George- are able to kill them before too much damage is done at the cost of their lives. There are reasons that the edges of maps are labeled "Here there be Monsters..."
