Academy of Higher Sciences - Geology Lab

In partnership with the Th'Den Wheja Museum of Natural Sciences, the Academy is a source of all knowledge for everyone who comes to look for it. As the subjects are explored and linked in a non-biased environment, connections are made and understandings reached that unlock new pathways for humanity to take.

The casual observer may only see geology as a science about rock formations, but there is so much more going on below the surface, both figuratively and literally. Heat that no laboratory before had been able to reproduce fuses elements, mixes compounds, and generates the new formations. Water carries it, erodes it, gives it form. In return, it conducts the energy and is carried by the wind to give the water its form as it falls. It provides a foundation for all of the life above it and, as humanity requires more and more of its support, it grows more and more necessary to know how it forms and how it stands.
This laboratory is designed to mimic the dynamic forces driving rock formation in a more stable, observable environment. At the center, a generator can melt stone at 10,000 degrees Farenheit, while the edges super-cool the rocks to an astonishing -150 degrees. In the middle is a gradient where stone solidifies and liquefies simultaneously, As this happens, advanced sensors monitor the heat patterns with accuracy down to a hundredth of a degree. in each square millimeter of the room's 125,000 square feet. The results are compared, the mixtures tested, and science marches on.
But on to what?
