The Grand Pyrax Dragon
With the recent discovery of liquid water on Mars, it only made sense to introduce a totally alien monster.
However, this one is not from Mars. As a matter of fact, this one was brought by an alien race in an attempt to colonize our Mars sometime in the eighth millennium BCE. Naturally, due to the lethal perchlorate salts in Mars' water, they were forced to abandon the planet. However, that wasn't before the water drove all the wildlife on the ship mad, including this beastie. It escaped and wreaked havoc on the ship, causing an emergency landing near the only other available source of fresh water for parsecs around.
The rest, they say, is history.
At least, the history that led to our own.
