Heart of Yellowstone

Sometimes, all you really need is lava.
Unless you are related to family members who were hurt or killed in the eruption at Pompeii. In which case, why are you still worrying about that?
This is going back to the Yellowstone eruption concept, and is supposed to depict a wilder, younger volcanic field, too chaotic to ride. Mind you, that future is more than a thousand years from now. So, what happened to the world between now and then? Does this mean that nothing could survive for long, or does something cling on in here?
