Hologenite
Of all the miracles of modern medicine, this may be the most important.
Hologenites were developed in 2021 by the CNRS, or French National Center for Scientific Research, and ushered in a new age of both biology and microtechnology. Essentially, they are cybernetic cells- able to replicate and grow like any other living thing, but now programmable at the genetic level. As seen in the magnification above, a typical animal cell has had its nucleus replaced with a Quantum Core Processor and a specialized endoplasmic reticulum to allow the transfer of computational information based on its surroundings. While somewhat unstable, this new form of life is perfectly immune to viruses, compatible with nearly every type of organism, and only requires access to a household computer to create practically anything you need.
That is, that's how it works on paper. The process is still in the early phases of testing, and being based on standard programming means glitches are inevitable.
Still, it's a huge step forward in not just civilization, but potentially evolution as we know it.
