The Mountain Shatters
A little experiment in sequences. I always liked the idea of the horror of a stratovolcano. Sure, Basalt and andesite are pretty to look at, but history has show that the MOST devastating are also the ugliest. Yellowstone, Mount Saint Helens, Krakatau, and Tambora all left their mark not with lava, but with searingly hot ash, some of which covered the sun, creating false winters all across the globe.
At the very least, it provides a challenge for designers, conceptualizing a volcano without the color orange.
