New Horizons

Well, here we go. As a little conglomeration of metal now drifts past the outermost planet for its first-ever close-up, so does mankind to finally being able to study the first true exoplanet. eighty-five years ago, nobody knew that it even existed, and fifty years ago, the mere thought of coming close enough to it to study its geological makeup? Sheer fantasy.
Now we are here, one step closer to the cosmos. After all of our long-range photography and fancy sci-fi illustrations, we are almost physically there.
That probably means that my painting here is only a few hours away from being outdated...

Rendered in Photoshop.
