Bogeyman

Submission for the 2014 Creature Cabal.

Of the monsters posted so far on Th'Den Wheja, few have ever reached a level of legend quite like the bogeyman has. Like good and evil, he is something that seems to exist everywhere; in every culture, almost in every house, there is something to be said about him. A crooked creature, barely a man, who literally is the stuff of nightmares. At night, he prowls closets and bedrooms, searching for little children. It was traditionally believed so simply steal the children from their beds, but recent reports have shown severe scarring, mentally and physically.

Why would he do this? What kind of man could do things as terrible as this? Opinions vary, but some say that he used to at least look like any other person. In life, some thousand years ago, he lived among us, but lived a very twisted life. Indulging in the most vulgar practices, it would be inappropriate to list them all online, but it suffices to say that he had several sins to make up for. In fact, so various and profane were his acts, that the devil himself refused to grant his access. Instead, he made a deal with him: as long as there was evil in the world, the bogeyman would be there to deliver the wicked to their rightful place...

...if you believe that kind of thing, He is just a legend after all.
