Lost Chronicles- Carnoceratops

Herein the Lost Chronicles resides those lost amidst the winds of time, unknown to any alive, except to those who know where they are. Those whose true nature were forgotten can live here, forever untouched by the world, without law or death.
Here there be monsters.

Considering recent finds in China, it's not entirely impractical that a bipedal ceratopsian group would evolve. Although large ones have yet to be found in the fossil record, the early Jurassic held some small surprises. Examples such as Psittacosaurus have been in existence since perhaps the 130-millionth year B.C., however the most astonishing find was a small biped found in 2006 in a quarry in China. Called Yinlong, it was unique in the fact that it had massive fangs- it was a carnivore.
Unbeknownst to most scientists, Yinlong started an entire arms-race in the Ceratopsian family. Both parties were on a fast-paced drag to balance out weight and speed perfectly. The head crests became more and more elaborate to increase the dangers of interspecies combat. Soon, crowns as elaborate and as diverse as bird plumages appeared on both sides. The only reason the carnivorous ceratopsians haven't been found as of yet may only pertain to their region of dominance- they mostly inhabited mountains and salt flats, areas with dry, hard ground that doesn't allow easy fossilization. This possibly made them some of the better survivors out of all of the dinosaur families.
Perhaps the most terrifying of these bipedal battering rams came from the Antarctic, around 90 million years ago. Back then, Antarctica wasn't drifting over the south pole, but it was close enough that it could get very cold and very dry in the winter- perfect for animals like Carnoceratops. It had an annual supply of herbivores that had to migrate through its tundras and icy forests, it had a well enough supply of vegetation when there wasn't enough meat to eat, and it was too dry for any pesky quadrupedal ceratopsian to bother it.
Unfortunately, that also meant that the environment would soon be to specialized for it. Antarctica was the only place suitable for it to evolve left on the planet, and as it froze over, the rest of the world became habitable for the more adaptable four-legged ceratopsians to flourish. Sadly enough, these fantastic carnivores were too hardy for their own good, and the last one died along with the antarctic.
