Sonic Avarid
Those who climb the mountains may think it wise to take refuge in the caves, but the wiser know that there are beings who count on them to do just that.
Avarids are carnivores who spend their entire lives attached to the ceilings of their biomes. The forest and Marshland variants rely on their eyesight to find prey, but in the caves, eons of darkness have rendered their six eyes nearly useless. Instead, they have evolved strong ears and sensitive hairs on their backs. When hungry, their lower legs instinctively unfold to reveal a webbed funnel that channels sound directly towards their heads. Light may not get far, but the stone walls ensure that the Avarid always knows where prey is in its home. Once it hears food, it is a matter of time, not luck, until the unwary feels its sharp pincers and paralyzing venom...
