Get off my Moon!

Let's cut this scene into as few paragraphs as possible.
It all starts in the far future, when humanity first starts to colonize the moon. Thanks to advanced construction tech, the first base is up and running in a matter of days. The main export is a rare mineral that (so far) has only been found on that one area of the moon.
However, the mineral is valuable to more than one civilization. Soon, strange things start happening to the bases. Power outages, mysterious disappearances, and short losses of contact become more and more common. Finally, at base LM-17, those responsible show themselves and, in a furious outrage, raze it to the ground.
Now what? What is humanity supposed to do against such a threat? Surrender? Fight back?
